NPCC’s Lady Cougars had a great showing this morning at the Harrison Invitational, finishing 11th out of 24 teams — 4 places higher than last year! 6 of our returners beat their times from last year, many by well over a minute or more. We also saw 10 PRs, 1 tied PR, and 3 Season Best performances. The girls are looking strong! The ladies continued running in packs with our front pack of Janice Felker, Mikaela Wilson, Jill Firanek, and Elise Zelasko finishing within a minute of each other, followed by another pack of 4 finishing within a minute of each other (Ava Schelstraete, Madelyn Lower, Ella Sanford, and Natalie Klemczak). There was even one more pack of 4 finishing their races within a minute of each other, and this one included Megan Lanchsweerdt, Cora Buss, Callie Miller, and Kinsley Aurenz. This race had varsity and JV running in separate races, so we’re excited to see how tightly they run and pull each other along next week when they’re all in the same race! Freshman Ava Schelstraete raced in the JV race after coming off of being sick this week and earned herself a ribbon with an 11th place finish. Madison Mitchell got another cross country 5K under her belt and is learning all about racing! Chloe Woodrick, Maci Allen, and Sophie Hackett ran some big PRs in the JV race! We’re looking forward to more cool weather racing and seeing how the team does leading into the quickly approaching postseason.
