The New Prairie Cougars got their first win ever over the St. Joseph Huskies tonight by a score of 3 - 2. The Cougars jumped on the board quickly, scoring an impressive goal in the first 25 seconds when Adam Martinez pressed a St. Joe defender, causing a turnover which came to Rory Zarate. Rory slid a nice pass over to Adam, who took one touch and fired a great shot past the keeper into the net. The Cougars continued to play hard the entire half, and scored their second goal of the game when Leone Gennari again pressed the Huskies defense, won a turnover, and tapped the ball past the keeper into the back of the net. The Cougars came out playing hard in the 2nd half, and Leone scored his 2nd goal of the game when he hit a nice shot past the keeper into the right side of the net. The Huskies managed to score a 2nd goal in the 2nd half, and the final 15 minutes was a battle. However, the Cougar defense held, and the final whistle blew with the Cougars winning 3 - 2. The Cougars next play on Saturday morning at Elkhart Christian Academy following the JV match.
