The Cougars hosted the New Prairie Invitational in some muddy conditions after extended lightning storm delays. NPCC competed in the AA division, and the Lady Cougars earned the runners-up title, just 2 points behind Hanover Central. The course was very muddy in some places and not set up for exceptional times, but the girls still put out some awesome performances! There were 6 lifetime PRs (Raegan, Lexi, Liv, Kenzie, Sophie, and Jessica), 4 season bests (Janice, Mikaela, Chloe, and Maci), 5 home course season bests (Elise, Jill, Natalie, Ava, and Ella), and 5 home course PRs (Kenna, Afton, Cora, Chloe, and Maci)! The varsity race was led by Janice Felker (7th; 20:37) and Mikaela Wilson (8th; 20:51), followed by Elise Zelasko (25th; 21:37), Raegan Bicker (26th; 21:40), and Jill Firanek (36th; 22:29) to round out the scoring 5. Also in the varsity race was Kenna Barnhart (37th; 22:31), Natalie Klemczak (45th; 23:01), Ava Schelstraete (46th; 23:01), Afton Maynes (50th; 23:27), and Ella Sanford (59th; 24:00). Leading the JV squad was Cora Buss (3rd; 24:00), followed by 2 more top 10 finishes from Lexi Hyatte (7th; 24:39) and Madelyn Lower (10th; 25:19). Chloe Woodrick was right behind in 11th (25:52) as well as Maci Allen (14th; 26:24) and Olivia Hardy (17th; 26:37). Kenzie Boswell, Sophie Hackett, and Jessica Wodecki finished out the race all with big PRs -- 44th, 45th, ~70th / 28:27, 28:27, 32:something, respectively. We unfortunately didn't have an exact time and place for Jess, because her bib didn't read at the finish for some reason, but we know she ran 32 something, which was a huge improvement that we are so proud of her for! We are so proud of all of our girls for their amazing work ethic and positive attitudes in really tough conditions today. We know they're strong, but they really proved it out there! Hoping for dry conditions next week at Culver Academies as we finish out the regular season!
